Program Overview and Fee Structure

Wildfire Prepared Home Assessment Program

The Wildfire Prepared Home Assessment Program, https://www.wildfireprepared.com, promotes wildfire awareness, education, and action for residents of Elk Creek, Inter-Canyon, Evergreen, and Genesee Fire Protection Districts. Through the program, residents can request a professional evaluation of the exterior of their home and surrounding property to determine their susceptibility to wildfire and actions that can make their home more defensible.

The Genesee Fire Protection District (GFPD) launched the Wildfire Prepared Home Assessment Program for our district residents in 2021. The program is managed by our district Wildland Specialist and is a direct result of our Community Wildfire Protection Plan’s (CWPP’s) call-to-action. This program serves to provide an in-depth, individualized, wildfire risk and mitigation assessment for homeowners. An assessment for a single-family residence takes on average 2-3 hours to complete onsite followed by an hour off-site to complete and submit the report.

As the program was being launched in 2021 District residents were offered the opportunity to apply for a home assessment at no charge. Effective January 1, 2022, newly scheduled home assessments are offered at $100 which is consistent with fire districts throughout Jefferson County and is akin to the fees required for fire prevention permits and services. All receipts associated with the program are reinvested into our community through wildfire education programs, slash programs, wildfire educational literature, and other wildfire mitigation initiatives.

We thank you for the opportunity to serve the community through this and other prevention programs.
