Genesee Fire Rescue will be hosting two chipping events for the district. The specifics for each event are listed below.
Chipping Events:
- Slash drop-off event for all Genesee Community members – Genesee Mountain, Chimney Creek, Genesee Village, & Genesee Foundation
You can drop off slash and firewood on July 25th - 30th in the GFR upper parking lot. Just follow the directions for pile arrangements.
ARRANGEMENT OF PILES: Please arrange your slash so that cut ends are facing the parking lot and stacked; perpendicular piles require more time to untangle and thus increase our cost for this project. Please do not add limbs that exceed 8 inches of diameter and/or 4 feet in length. Stack unwanted firewood neatly.
- Chip and tow SLASH event for Genesee Mountain, Chimney Creek, & Genesee Village - Monday, August 1
ARRANGEMENT OF PILES: Please arrange your slash so that cut ends are facing the road and stacked; perpendicular piles require more time to untangle and thus increase our cost for this project. Please do not put piles in drainage ditches along the road and please keep them clear of the road or private drive. Any slash piles that have excess dirt, trash, or metal within them will not be picked up. Please do not add limbs that exceed 8 inches of diameter and/or 4 feet in length. Please place your piles at your curbside, where you would normally have your trash picked up.
LOGISTICS OF PICKUP: On the morning of August 1, the contractor will drive by every address in the community and chip piles left at curb with a dump truck and chipper. Get your piles to the curb by July 31st so your slash is picked up! No firewood will be picked up during this event.
